barbed wires on either side
heavily guarded with soldiers
and ammunition.
At what cost,
is this frivolous extravaganza ,
A bee can across the borders
without a document.
Humans chalk out geographical
boundaries on the hearts
to divide cultures .
Humanity sacrificed at the altar.
It is not the army's pride
but hate besieges minds
on either side.
Let us give peace a chance.
Let us give peace a chance to
destroy the hate and enmity.
and plant a seed of love and
let the white dove reign supreme.
Is it too much to expect?
FOR : THEME THURSDAY : PEACE

Very true the prevailing tension between India and Pakistan is taking its toll on innocent people.
ReplyDeleteyes you are right. I wrote the poem without mentioning the countries involved.
DeleteIt is so true that Nature really does not have any borders, well except for rivers and the oceans. But Nature should be a good example that all of God's creatures, man included, should follow. You really wrote a great piece here to show that. A few years back I did a post about what occurs each night at one border between India and Pakistan. Almost like a group of peacocks displaying their plumes. I found it very interesting. I also posted the videos from both sides. We really do need to give peace a chance. You might like my poem about the Iranian Freedom Seed. You can find the link in my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for writing this and sharing it with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. I hope you have a peaceful and loving weekend with your friends and family. Maybe if we talked about peace more than war then things would change.
God bless.
Thank you so much , Mrsupole for the encouragement and appreciation. Indeed peace should be given a chance as in a war nobody actually wins. Both sides are the loser as wars kills soldiers on both the sides. Children are orphaned, women are widowed , mothers lose their children.

ReplyDeleteI agree.. we have too much war and too many fights going on all over the world!
I do wish people would step back, take a deep breath and give peace a chance!
and that's what my post intends to say, dear Pixie.
DeleteWe have been a nation of peace at most times... infact sometimes it is taken for granted and we pay for it by giving territories... I am all for peace... but when someone enters our territory we must defend it... that unfortunately is the way of the world...
ReplyDeletePeace does not mean sacrificing one's self-respect or giving up what is one's own territory. If anyone attacks us unjustly , we should fight with courage and defeat the opponent. But before picking up arms if there is scope for negotiations give it a chance but if it fails ..........
DeleteMay there be Peace! Thank you, Kalpana. Beautiful verse!

ReplyDeleteWe all want peace, on both sides of the barbed wires. Nice one, Kalpana :)
ReplyDeleteKajal ,the common man on both the sides want peace, peace and peace.
DeleteWhat an irony that we humans have given birth to. Our heart is meant to love one and all and yet we do just the opposite.
ReplyDeleteA very profound poem.
P.S: Sorry for missing. I some how can't make myself to blog these days. Trying hard to come back.
