ups and downs

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

Cover art from Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division (1979)

Straight lines, I drew,
mountains you brew,
peaks you considered.
distances apart , I Interpreted.

I tried to stretch the barrier,
But you got angrier.
You held on to your creation,
while I fumbled with caution.

I languished,
waiting for a slice of you.
I dusted myself, drew the border
of sanity and retreated.

a Car named desire.

                                                      PHOTO PROMPT © Ted Strutz

I had looked at it from far,

Gleaming, sturdy, excellence par,

On threshold of adolescence,

I stood, with ambitions and innocence,

Desire I had named that car,

Often I had watched it from far.

Seasons waxed and waned,

My flames of Desire brightly burned,

Some satiated, some un-satisfied,

A few achieved, a few pacified.

With salt n pepper beard,

No competition feared,

Cruising in the lane of content,

Inhaling the cool scent,

The Desire is left behind.

Hobbling with a walking stick,

An ascetic, I turn away, quick.

Alone in the crowd.

My soles hit the hard road
a path of thought
travels to my grey cells
to reside in crevice.

A speck among the
millions, breathing.
Have I caged myself
in the invisible prison?

Ten fingers point accusingly
follow to set standards.
I jettison the cargo of norms
to emancipate myself.

Green eyes glare
spewing lave on me.
The volcano in me trapped
erupts, cooling my senses.

Tentacles of hatred
enclose me, suffocating.
I break free, seek refuge
on isle of loneliness.

Should I be a microcosm
of human society, melting away?
Or languish in the walled city
with a flag of my own identity?

Abundance

Weekend Writing Prompt #19 – Abundance

Poetry Challenge – Write a non-rhyming poem, in 15 lines or less, that includes the words:

  • abundance
  • prosperity
  • plenty

She sowed a seed,
on the fertile farm of motherhood.
She reaped an abundance of bounty,
the prosperity made her content.
her child's smiles, plenty,
the cup runneth over.

With wrinkled hands she waves,
from the blue clouds.
A cocoon she have woven,
around him, protecting him,
from all lurking dangers.

Untie him from your apron strings,
wisely cajoles the angel.
Let him take risks, lead his life,
It is his life, after-all.

constant change

Thursday photo prompt – Fading #writephoto

Calm waters of azure ocean
tsunami with violent emotion.

every lash of the salty water
hard rocks erode with lather.

Dawn slowly embraces the gloaming
migrant wings return to nest, roaming.

branches shed green coat, hook
to don a bare naked look.

fluffy clouds change shape
from lion to ape , just gape.

your tenderness fills my heart
aches for the time apart.

fleeting glance of your sunshine
disappear, bleak days mine.

there is change of seasons
for whatever reasons.

ebb the tide of longing
expose the gap yawning.

'eternal' loves fades
to stain the weakest shades.

thawing of passion
intimacy goes into hibernation.

Change is constant
at pace slow,never instant.

Faith unblemished.

Thursday photo prompt – Cracked #writephoto

seeds of expectation sowed.

from the clouds nothingless flowed

into the barren field of farmer's mind.

sun set on horizon behind.

Natures oft amazes,

heavenly eyes gazes.

Green shrubs thrust out

from parched chasms, hope sprout.

egg-shell , dried foliage into manure,

from dust to dust for sure.

recalcitrant clouds black bless,

ground adorns green dress.

Gratitude germinate,

earthlings cultivate,

harvest and prosperity,

spreads fragrance of  humanity.

fires of hunger extinguished.

faith unblemished.

hues of India

Weekend Writing Prompt #16 – Colours

Word Prompt : Colours
delicate feet strut gingerly,
compressed smiles inwardly.
myriad melange of blue, green,
unveils plumage and preen
wooing its insouciant mate
beckoning for amorous date.

Expectant brown heels raised
stare at blue horizon dazed.
Clouds black gather
overcrowding like lather,
shyly gazing down,laden with passion
awaiting the feathered union.

thunder's decibel of explosion ,
firmament releases  emotion
to satisfy the earthly need
red mud satiate from the feed.
parched chasms extends its arms
frothy rivulets embrace every farms.

Green sprouts spread their gown
hermits in orange, wisdom renown
peaceful doves in white
Tri-colour fluttering high and bright
Colours of India, Vibrant
celebrating festivals and life, jubilant.
