Five Sentence Fiction – Marriage

Our marriage is not a union of two souls but a sacrifice for the benefit of society, she remembered clearly that he had said nearly 25 years ago.

Today as he was sworn as the Prime-minister , her joys knew no bounds and she prayed for the fulfillment of his wishes.

The media hounded her for sound-bytes , women-activists labelled her a 'door-mat' but she was unperturbed and preferred to go on a pilgrimage. 

Some partners prefer to remain in the shadows , unsung and unheard , allowing the other partner to hog the lime-light.

Not all unions are perfect but the imperfect ones have have  every right to privacy.
