rocky road .

                                           PhrasePhase7

Rocky road ahead............. that is what he perceived as his legs moved
fast and the furious breeze sped past him encouraging him to rival it.

The pair of blue eyes were glued to the brown uneven path as he vehemently
raced ahead.

The tall trees, the verdant landscape  and azure lake-water did not for
a moment distract the nature-lover in him. Beads of perspiration trickled
down rapidly and irritated his skin but these were minor deterrents.

The bumpy terrain was not an impediment considering the gigantic peaks
he had conquered.

The thought of the steel body of his vehicle had been a succour when he
was navigating on a different road ; a road to recovery.

His confidence and adventurous spirit had hit a nadir when he was confined
to bed in supine position after the accident.

The convalescing period was three months but Ronnie defied the doctors
and was on  prosthetic feet in sixty days pedalling away his disability and
looking forward to the journey of life.

The long winding rocky road had to be conquered.

precious moments

quoted5

I  gathered the swirl of my chiffon skirt and hitched it a bit higher. With

the parasol as my saviour, I tried my callisthenics skills at landing safely

in small stretches of hard solid land between puddles of all geographical

sizes.

It is a herculean task,  I concluded.

As a child I welcomed the blessings from the skies with open hands,

literally. Jumping into the largest and deepest puddle was a joy untold.

The thought of the school books being bathed in water drops never

crossed my mind until a ferocious glare from my mother's eyes  put an

end to my merry-making.

Those were the days of care-free life.

Today the charcoal black clouds grimaced and unanimously connived to vent

their emotions and loosened themselves to send their ire on Mother Earth.

Mumbai is an island city and the showers reminded us, marooning the citizens.

Wish I had the magic wand or Aladdin's lamp to put an end to this showery

tyranny.

Lo and behold the black urchins were sent packing and a clear blue

blanket spread before  me. I peeped from the edge of my parasol to witness

the dramatics in the sky. The Sun being in a parsimonious mood sprinkled his

rays and a seven spectrum wonder unfolded before me. Discarding their

rainy gear, all heads turned their gaze towards the melange of colours in

the sky.

The artist had splashed his palette of colours on the vast canvas and

the earthy connoisseurs lapped it up. A curve spread on my face and

I could feel the positive vibes spreading warmth over my being.

Dark days and potholes road ridden

O rainbow! where were you hidden?

with your myriad hues soft

why don't you show up oft?

Not days, I live in moments few

life-time of memories, I brew

Tango with the sunshine

and all will be fine.

I inhaled the fragrance of the rainbow and with gusto jumped into the puddle.

                                                Childhood revisited.

today, a gift

                               APromptEachDayBadge

The future is unknown, uncertain

The past is gone away, behind

Not to turn back and see

But today is present, a gift

To be enjoyed, cherished, felt.

Live life in the present.

The Thief

SOURCE

This week’s word: THIEF

Gloved hands deftly drilled hard into the keyhole noiselessly , with

 abated breath.

click... clang..... a turn ......and the vault door was thrown open.

Smoke arose in soft rings , faded the masked thief's vision and the

suffocating vapours forced the masked cheetah to reveal the real identity.

Long tresses unveiled and delicate feminine facial features were captured

on CCTV.

Gosh!............it was a bait and she had fallen into a trap.

Trust

                                          APromptEachDayBadge

Circumambulating the holy fire

I ceased to be me
Our souls  became one
My trust I reposed in you

Imprisoned on the tiny island

O! Rama , thou built a bridge of faith
Rescued  my loneliness
My trust trumpted to victory

Alas! My joys shortlived

A washerman stained my shadow
Your Kingdom cast a doubt
your  wedding wows unfulfilled

Holy flames untouched me

My trust in you charred
reduced to ashes my soul
Did Sita question your chastity?

with indignity , I refuse to live
Mother Earth, open up your bosom

Deep down your crust,  I trust
To be buried peacefully.

Kitchen capers.

Kitche picture prompt

The light green Chinese paper lanterns and picture frames were hand-picked

from Crawford Market. The crockery cupboard designed by her was made

from the finest teak. The wooden windows allowed the morning sunlight

to seep in spreading warmth. A pen and paper lay to scribble notes

Each piece of cutlery was in place. Her kitchen was her domain, her pride.

The family sat at the table for lunch. She stood and watched the

metamorphosis of her kids into adults as she had tears in her eyes.

They could only feel her lingering presence. Annie was the soul of this

place.

a bite

                                              APromptEachDay1

The voice sounded strange yet she couldn't ignore it. She blinked and tried to

turn away but the sound seemed to mesmerise her and percolate into every

pore of hers. The strong magnetism of the unknown had taken its toll on her

innocence and she was forced to lend her ears to it much against her conscience.

The stranger coiled and hissed with wicked intentions and implored her to take

the fatal bite.

She succumbed to the evil charms and the bite sealed her fate. The Eden of

abundance banished her and marooned her into the whirlpool of struggle and

uncertainty.

Alas! The stranger still lurks in the dark raising  the ugly hood and baring the

poisonous fangs waiting for its prey.
